Université Paris-Est Créteil

Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) is where Mike earned a DUT in computer science between 2019 and 2021. The DUT is a two-year French higher-education diploma focused on applied technical training. It was the first step in the academic progression that continued with an engineering degree at ESIEE Paris.

Program

The UPEC DUT ran for two years starting in 2019, the same year Mike created his LinkedIn account (December 2019). The program covered the foundational computer science material that preceded the engineering curriculum: web development in PHP, introductory programming, and database work.

The IUT (Institut universitaire de technologie) at Fontainebleau appears in the URL pattern of the MEA Quizz project submission — dwarves.iut-fbleau.fr/~badarou/ — indicating the UPEC DUT was delivered through the IUT de Sénart-Fontainebleau satellite campus.

Coursework Output

The named project from this period is MEA Quizz (May–June 2020), a first-year PHP web application built as a quiz creation tool for teachers. The description states the goal was "to put into practice our skills in PHP" — a straightforward applied assignment.

The MEA_QUIZZ GitHub repository from July 2020, along with SNAKE (C) and SUDOKU (Java) uploaded the same week, form the earliest public artifact of the UPEC period.

Transition to ESIEE

The UPEC DUT ended in 2021 and Mike moved directly to ESIEE Paris for the three-year engineering degree. The UPEC-to-ESIEE transition is a common French academic trajectory for students targeting engineering schools after a technical diploma.
