Mike and Achraf

The Mike–Achraf relationship is the single most documented relationship in the wiki. It spans more than eighteen months of near-daily WhatsApp contact (Aug 2024 – ongoing), 1,033 audio messages, and a parallel LinkedIn correspondence of 36 recorded threads. It is simultaneously a best friendship, a co-founding partnership, and a peer mentorship.

Roles

Achraf occupies the strategic and sales voice: market framing, SaaS pricing, fundraising pitches, outreach to scouts and accelerators. Mike occupies the execution role: shipping code, integrating APIs, building user interfaces, meeting deadlines. Over the course of 2025 and into 2026 the division of labor stabilized (Achraf sells, Mike builds) and neither role is performatively assigned. It settled because each of them is demonstrably stronger at their half.

The relationship is not equal in founder maturity. Achraf is one to two years further along in thinking about fundraising, cofounder dynamics, and startup ecosystems. The asymmetry shows in the WhatsApp audio mix. Achraf's voice notes are longer, more strategic, more structured. Mike's are shorter and often reactive or logistical.

Cadence

The contact rhythm tracks the project cycle. Early 2025 was sparse (3–29 messages/month) while both worked on separate ventures. A spike in June 2025 (174 messages) coincided with both being at anomalie.space. July 2025 peaked at 375 messages around the lu.ma Hackathon July 2025 sprint. From October 2025 onward, the relationship has held at roughly 400–535 messages per month without cooldown, a frequency that matches active co-building on Transfer Portal.

Meetings in person happen two to three times per week when both are in Paris. Châtelet metro is the recurring rendezvous point. They also frequent Anomalie, Morning coffee shops (12 Av. d'Italie), Felicita, Grands Boulevards, LIZARD (4th arrondissement), and Wanderlust in Bercy. The physical overlap is daily enough that many WhatsApp sequences are just "descends" (come downstairs) and "Azy suis là" (I'm here).

Shared Projects

The partnership's output is the sports tech suite: BALLER (the AI model), SquadGen (squad builder), Goal Contribution (impact metric), and Transfer Portal (AI fantasy football agent). Each is listed on Mike's GitHub as "Collaborative Work" in contrast to his solo consumer apps. The collaboration is not listed on LinkedIn, where the co-founder role sits inside the looser "Sports Tech Founder" framing.

A failed co-building attempt in early 2025 was the Wayzze expansion. Achraf offered a revenue-share marketing partnership with his cousins for distribution in Francophone Africa. The arrangement was agreed in audio but never formalized. Wayzze faded by June 2025 as Mike pivoted to anomalie.space and solo shipping, and the collaboration with Achraf refocused on BALLER.

Trust Under Pressure

The April 14, 2026 conversation (two hours, audio-dominated) is the highest-stakes moment in the record. It pivoted into shared strategy: leave France for Toronto or elsewhere, stop trusting the local accelerator and VC infrastructure, find "deep" problems that cannot be commoditized.

The following day (April 15, 2026) Mike was separately burned by a different cofounder prospect. His reaction was to give Achraf vetting authority over future partnerships: "Wallah il faut que tu fasse le screening, je suis trop dégouté." The incident compressed the relationship further — Achraf is now the trusted gatekeeper for Mike's cofounder search.

Language and Culture

French is the working language. The casual register ("frr," "mec," "mon gar," "wallah") is constant. Arabic-derived emphatics and religious phrasing enter naturally; Eid Mubarak, Aid Mubarak, and Ramadan references are exchanged without explanation. The shared Muslim Faith frame is present but understated, an accepted backdrop rather than an explicit topic.

The Quote That Frames the Partnership

"Claude il a tellement bien compris le projet avec le deck qu'il m'a sorti des réponses de fouuu."

— Achraf, October 24, 2025, on using Claude to draft Y Combinator|YC responses from the BALLER pitch deck.
