Transfer Portal
Transfer Portal
Transfer Portal is the 2026 evolution of the BALLER suite into an AI Fantasy Football Agent. The project was seeded in late 2025 as a feature added to SquadGen and took shape as its own direction in January 2026. Achraf refers to it interchangeably as "BTP," "Transfer Portal," or "goal Contribution" (gC) in WhatsApp audio. Co-founded with Achraf Adjileye.
Concept
The Transfer Portal thesis is autonomous agents that play fantasy football leagues at a top-1% level without human input. Achraf's framing during the January 13, 2026 all-day conversation: build an AlphaGo-style system for fantasy sports where the agent selects, substitutes, and transfers players based on accumulated knowledge of team form, injuries, xG trends, and contextual fit from BALLER's embeddings.
The ambition is larger than fantasy football alone. In April 2026 Achraf began reframing the work as "data-as-business-layer," a Vault-style dynamic knowledge base that would connect to email, Strava activities, bank cards, and daily routine data to maintain a live personal context for the agent. The contrast he drew was against Karpathy's recent "personal wiki" framing, which Achraf called static: "Karpathy c'est juste un wiki perso. Lui son truc est dynamique. Et se connecte à toute ta vie."
Development
Mike committed to UI and frontend work on Transfer Portal. The partnership discussed architecture choices in WhatsApp audio, including a Python deepsearch module integrated via shared GitHub repo. Debugging conversations in January and February 2026 covered Selenium scraping alternatives for live lineup data and API integrations with Strava.
Market validation came through Achraf's Twitter presence: by February 2026 he was fielding 20+ replies per day on Goal Contribution posts, which converted into Transfer Portal interest. Achraf interpreted the reply volume as pre-product demand, captured in "Le jour où tu release ça tu gagnes 100M en valo et 3 mois après tu deviens une licorne", a partly-joking, partly-believed valuation.
Crisis and Pivot Talk
The April 14, 2026 conversation reframed Transfer Portal alongside a pessimistic read of the French funding environment. Kima Ventures had rejected the BALLER pitch in October 2025 and later funded a competitor for 1M EUR. The conclusion reached in that conversation: Transfer Portal needed to be a "deep" problem (one that competitors could not copy in six weeks) or the whole direction was wrong. Emigration from France to Toronto or similar was floated for the first time as a serious option for both of them.
Status
Active as of April 2026, with development ongoing under the BALLER umbrella. Transfer Portal is the most strategically central project in the co-founding partnership at this point in time, absorbing the majority of the WhatsApp thread's product discussions and displacing Mike's solo consumer app work from the foreground.
