Pulse

Pulse is a running social app that surfaces nearby running groups with live planned sessions. It is listed as Mike's primary project on the GitHub profile as of April 2026. App Store listing: apps.apple.com/us/app/pulse-running-friends/id6759053678. Domain: pulse-running.com.

Concept

The stated premise: "The app that gets runners off their couch and onto the road, together." The product solves a coordination problem: finding other runners nearby who are planning to run at the same time. It connects Runner Identity (a personal problem) to a social product.

Distribution Strategy

Pulse has the most detailed distribution strategy of any product in the README:

  • Reddit
  • Instagram Reels
  • Strava Clubs
  • Parkrun
  • Running stores

The channel specificity reflects genuine community knowledge. Strava Clubs and Parkrun are running-specific platforms with established communities. Running stores are physical distribution touchpoints. The mix of digital and physical channels is unusual for an indie app.

Intellectual Lineage

The community-first framing of Pulse (runners gathering around shared sessions rather than individual analytics) traces to a March 2025 conversation with Achraf Adjileye about his own product ScoreSphere. Achraf's pitch at the time emphasized community over data; Mike's response in audio was "De mon côté, je me suis rendu compte que c'est ce qu'il me faut aussi." The line is the earliest recorded moment where the Pulse thesis can be identified in Mike's voice.

The Stall

Pulse does not appear in WhatsApp conversations during the periods when Mike is most actively shipping other work. In the October 2025 – April 2026 thread, the dominant product topics are Transfer Portal (co-founded with Achraf) and occasional discussions of the BALLER suite. Pulse surfaces mostly around specific events: a February mention tied to Apple review friction, and an April 12, 2026 invitation to Achraf for a Pulse promo at the Paris Marathon. Achraf replied "Désolé je viens juste de voir j'aurais kiffé" (sorry I just saw, would have loved to); mutual friend Matéo and others were running the marathon that day.

The April 1, 2026 Mike line "rien ne bouge sur Pulse" (nothing is moving on Pulse) is the clearest signal of the stall. Neither a pivot nor a shutdown has been announced. Pulse remains the publicly-stated current project while internal founder attention has migrated elsewhere.

Status

Live on the App Store. Closed source. No public code repository. Product development is quiet as of April 2026 despite the active flagship status on the GitHub profile.

Relationship to KONQR

KONQR was an earlier running product — a GPS territory-conquest game. KONQR gamified solo running. Pulse addresses group coordination. The two products cover different aspects of the same domain, suggesting a sustained interest in the running problem space rather than a single product bet.
