Q1 2026 Reset
Q1 2026 Reset
By mid-April 2026, Mike named the first quarter of the year as a failed period requiring a reset. The admission came in a WhatsApp exchange with Achraf on April 14, 2026: "J'ai surtout besoin de reset. 1er trimestre de 2026 pas comme prévu." (I really need a reset. Q1 2026 didn't go as planned.) The language is the first explicit framing of a period as a setback in Mike's record.
What Converged
Several signals compounded in Q1 2026:
- Pulse stalled. The April 1 statement "rien ne bouge sur Pulse" captured the lack of traction on what was publicly the flagship solo product.
- The Wayzze regret resurfaced on April 9 with "J'ai tjrs le seum de Wayzze", almost a year after the quiet fade. The wound had not closed.
- The Kima Ventures rejection of BALLER (October 2025) was followed in February 2026 by Kima funding a competitor with a similar idea for 1M EUR. The event was tracked obsessively by Achraf and fed a growing VC cynicism.
- A separate cofounder prospect burned Mike around April 14–15, producing the handoff of cofounder vetting to Achraf: "Wallah il faut que tu fasse le screening, je suis trop dégouté."
None of these on its own would reset a direction. Together they produced the first period in Mike's record that he framed as a bounded failure requiring fresh strategy.
The Emigration Conversation
The April 14 conversation is also where emigration entered the record for the first time, in "Viens on se taille stp !! je sais pas ou mais je peux t'assurer qu'on va mieux percer qu'ici". Toronto was named. The destination is less important than the fact that relocation is now available as a consideration for the first time. The reset is not just about product direction but about geography and ecosystem.
Status
Active and unresolved as of April 17, 2026. No decision has been made on staying in France or leaving, on continuing Pulse or shelving it. The Q1 Reset is the first period of sustained uncertainty in the Solo Founder Era.
