Founder Hedge Job Applications
Founder Hedge Job Applications
During the first year of the Solo Founder Era, Mike maintained an active LinkedIn job-application pipeline in parallel with running his own companies. The pattern (applying to corporate fullstack roles while publicly identifying as a founder) is a characteristic founder hedge: preserve optionality to return to salaried work if the startup path fails to produce revenue by a certain date.
The Data
- 19 total job applications logged on LinkedIn
- Two clear clusters: August 2023 (8 applications) and August 2025 (5 applications)
- Last application logged: August 18, 2025 (Ubique Systems)
- 6 saved jobs, mostly from 2021–2022, at Capgemini, BNP Paribas, and Sincro
- Targets through 2025: Capgemini, SQLI, Sogeti, Inetum, Talan, Crédit Agricole Tech, CryptoNext Security
- Roles: Fullstack (Java/React dominant), tech lead, senior backend — all enterprise/corporate paths
The Inflection
August 2025 is the last moment job applications appear in the record. The period maps to the end of the anomalie.space residency and the launch window for Outgoing Agent, Quit Sugar, and the scouting outreach for SquadGen. After August 2025, no further job applications appear.
The timing suggests the hedge was abandoned rather than the startup path merely succeeding. Wayzze had faded earlier in the summer without revenue. The BALLER suite was pre-revenue. But the hedge stopped anyway, consistent with Mike having internalized that corporate fallback was no longer the mental cost it had been a year earlier.
Continuity with Pre-Founder Career
Recruiters continued to contact Mike throughout 2024 and 2025 with fullstack and tech-lead pitches at roughly 2–4 per month, with seasonal spikes in August. Mike rarely responded seriously. One documented exception in 2024 was a formal candidacy to Wael Boughzala that resulted in polite rejection. The recruiter-to-response conversion rate was effectively zero from mid-2024 onward.
The recruiter outreach itself is a passive signal: the market saw Mike as a hirable Java-plus-React engineer with Safran apprenticeship pedigree, exactly the profile he was trying to move past. The founder identity had to overcome not only his own doubt but also an inbound current pulling him back toward the familiar stack.
Pattern Relevance
The pattern is complete. It ended in August 2025 and has not re-opened. If it recurs in 2026 it will be a significant signal. The April 14, 2026 conversation with Achraf about leaving France included no suggestion of returning to salaried work; the proposed alternative was emigration to better-capitalized ecosystems, not retreat to the corporate consulting layer. The hedge, having been closed, stays closed.
